Deepfaking a Jurgen Klopp multi-verse

What if one decision led you down a completely different path? Led by Mayda ECD’s Carl Addy and Ben Smith, we used AI, machine learning and deepfake technology to imagine Jurgen Klopp in a series of alternate lives.

The campaign reimagines Klopp in a series of alternate careers… a baker, yoga instructor, even toy store mascot, each as surprising as it is entertaining. The idea reinforces DVAG’s message that good advice isn’t about steering you away from the wrong path, but helping you thrive on the right one.

With just one day to film, we turned to our tech toolkit, using a combination of AI, machine learning and deepfake technology to bring Klopp’s many ‘other lives’ to screen. The mix of humour and innovation kept his trademark charisma front and centre, creating a spot that celebrates life’s possibilities and the trusted guidance that helps you make the most of them.

We worked with body double actors for the performances, then used a custom-built deepfake pipeline to replace their faces with Jürgen’s. To achieve this, we captured 40 minutes of his real facial expressions and dialogue in a variety of lighting conditions, creating a detailed dataset to train the model.

Once our model had generated his likeness over the footage, we refined it using traditional compositing techniques. The result is a film that blends technical innovation with craft, turning a clever concept into something both fun and thought-provoking.
